About me

I started sewing when I was a kid. My mom taught me how to make dresses for my dolls and all the other artsy crafts that she had been taught by her mother. My grandmother was a seamstress by trade and made most of the clothes for my mom and her sisters. I love looking back on her creations and marveling at the perfection of each stitch. However, my mom had more of a knack for interior design, so dress making never particularly stood out to me among the other crafts I tried, that is, until high school.

I took fiber arts my senior year to fill out my schedule. I had remembered making dresses when I was a kid, so I thought taking a sewing class would be an easy A. However, once I started envisioning my own designs and bringing them to life, that is when I started to see the joy of creating clothes. But once again my interest took a backseat to my busy schedule in college and my sewing machine gathered dust at home. It wasn't until the summer after college when I found myself an unemployed college grad with no hobbies and a shrinking budget, that I dusted off my sewing machine and started creating again.

This is a blog about my sewing creations. My first project since high school was my Halloween costume inspired by the cute, fun women's costumes so popular today. The whole costume cost under $20 and took me only a couple days to fully complete. I hope to continue to challenge myself to create beautiful, unique designs on a budget. This is an important element of my creations. Another important element is wearability.

I see a gap in the market for women that fall in between plus-sizes and standard sizes, which are really designed for a size 0. I strive to make clothes that are made from sturdy fabrics, structured designs, and proper draping that are actually designed for the average woman. I want women of all sizes to feel confident and beautiful in my designs. I hope you enjoy my styles and alterations and see my vision through my creations.
